Overview

Adeche Atelier, the creative duo of Fine Artists, Storytellers, and African Mythology Experts, were invited to deliver their first-ever lecture at Tate Modern. Their talk explored Yoruba cosmology, African spiritual systems, and Susanne Wenger’s Odùduwà Creation Myth, featured in the Nigerian Modernism exhibition.

Weaving together art, ritual, memory, and spirituality, the lecture offered audiences an engaging lens on underrepresented histories, cultural narratives, and African artistic traditions.

This collaboration came just weeks after a live painting night at Tate Britain, where Adwoa and Solomon brought African folklore to life with a portrait of the Zulu goddess Mbaba Mwana Waresa.

Details

The lecture sold out all 240 seats, highlighting the real-world demand generated by Adeche Atelier’s digital storytelling and the appetite for in-person cultural learning experiences. By bringing their expertise into a live setting, Adwoa and Solomon empowered audiences to engage deeply with African mythology, identity, and heritage.

Partnering with Tate showcased how creators can translate their scholarship and artistry into immersive, accessible cultural experiences - blending creativity, storytelling, and education to inspire meaningful conversations around global art and African heritage.
